Description

ACCESS is an organization here in Little Rock that specializes in evaluation, therapy, education and training services for individuals with special needs from the age of 6 weeks all the way to 35 years. We developed our horticulture program as an opportunity for individuals with special needs to receive therapy in a different way, add another aspect of multi-sensory learning, as well as incorporate math and science into their curriculum. It was not long before realized the significant vocational training opportunities this program allowed for our young adults.
We started with community plant sales years ago, and young adults worked in the program to learn everything from inventory management to customer service – transferable job skills they could use anywhere. With the expansion to a second campus, we were able to expand our horticulture program including a 96’ by 34’ greenhouse.
