Farmer's Market, On Farm Sales, Pick-Your-Own Operation
We are a brother and sister-owned u-pick operation in the Benton area. We offered our first crop of strawberries in the spring of 2019 and are growing!
Informative guide to picking strawberries at Salt Box Farm:
* Please leave pets at home. We would love to have them come out and enjoy the farm as much as you will, but USDA Food Safety regulations forbid animals in the field. New for the 2022 season, We have no fences around the three individual fields, only one that encloses the entire farm, so we ask that you please leave all pets at home. We have no way of guaranteeing they cannot access our planting beds.
* We have everything you need to pick your berries and get them home safely. Just bring your camera and capture some memories!
* When you arrive, follow the yellow sign to the check in stand where you will be asked to sanitize your hands before entering the field. This is also a USDA Food Safety Regulation. We proudly provide hand sanitizer that is safely MADE IN THE USA.
*Clean, sanitized buckets are located just inside the fence. Each bucket holds around five pounds. You can take as many buckets into the field as you like. You are not obligated to fill them all. Pick as much or as little as you like. We ask that you return any unused buckets to the farm stand. Please do not return them to the tub of clean buckets.
*When it comes to picking strawberries, we are fond of saying “The redder the better!” A tiny green tip is fine, but we do want you to know that they may not be as sweet as completely ripe berries. Please help keep costs down by using care when picking the strawberries off the plant, and keeping completely off of the raised planting beds.
* When you have picked all of the berries you want ( no limit) please follow the sign to the check out stand. At this time, our upick price has not been set for the 2022 season. We accept cash, debit and credit. We may post special pricing from time to time so be sure and follow our page!
*We do not have traditional business hours. We assess the field and consult the weather report daily and decide whether we have ample berries and good weather to open. We ask our customers to check our Facebook page for updates daily. We appreciate your patience and understanding. We can assure you that if we are not open it is because we are waiting for the berries to ripen and we are as disappointed as you are.
*Strawberry season in Arkansas is very brief. We have no way of knowing how long our season will be, but we hope to be open at least through the end of May.
We hope this post is helpful for those of you who haven’t visited our farm yet. For those of you who have, we are very grateful for the support that you have shown us. We appreciate your kind reviews and the pictures that you share of your visit to your local strawberry farm. We love visiting with you at the farm stand and we love talking strawberries, tractors, farming, goats and answering all of your questions. Meeting new people, seeing old friends, and making new ones are a few of the many things we love about our u-pick farm. We hope to see you at Salt Box Farm very soon!!!
