Welcome to Gary Johnson Custom Knives
My journey into knife making began with a simple fascination—a pig sticker forged from a horseshoe. That moment sparked a deep respect for handcrafted knives and the artistry behind them. Since then, I've devoted myself to the craft, creating custom knives for avid hunters, collectors, and those who appreciate quality made by hand.

Each knife you see here is handmade by me, from start to finish. I design every blade, shape each piece by hand on belt sanders, and personally perform the heat treating. My wife adds the finishing touch with hand-tooled, custom leather sheaths—together, we ensure each knife is both beautiful and functional.

I’ve been fortunate to learn from some of the best, including master knife makers D'Alton Holder and Ronnie Mobbs. Their guidance has helped shape my skills and fueled my commitment to excellence.

Using only the highest-grade materials—ranging from desert ironwood and mammoth ivory to high-performance steels like D2, CPM154, and Damascus—every knife I craft is a one-of-a-kind piece of functional art. I was honored to create knives for Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and State Senators Eddie Joe Williams and Jason Rapert.
