Description

Established in 2019, Hackberry Farm is a small fiber farm located in north central Arkansas raising fine fleece Shetland sheep. Our sheep are registered with the North American Shetland Sheepbreeders Association and the Fine Fleece Shetland Sheep Association.

Our breeding stock's fleece has been micron tested with results ranging from superfine grade 1 to fine grade 2 on the Fine Fleece Shetland Sheep Association-Traditional 1927® Shetland Fleece Grading Chart. We participate in The Livestock Conservancy's Shave 'Em to Save 'Em program.

In the spring, raw wool is available after shearing which occurs in April. In the summer, lambs are available after weaning in July. While some wool is kept on farm for hand processing into yarn, most of our fleece is sent to Round Barn Fiber Mill in Durand, Ill to be spun into yarn. Our yarn is used to hand knit hats, cowls, gloves and socks. We take custom orders by contacting us through our social media accounts or contact information. Our yarn can be purchased direct from the farm, through our Etsy shop or by visiting The Birdcage Vintage Market in Batesville, AR.
